School Reminders
We offer two lunches at Stanwood High School. Students’ lunch is based on their fourth-period teacher. Students will be able to purchase lunch in the commons area at Stanwood High School or bring their lunch from home. To apply for free and reduced lunch, please click here for information or stop by the main office with questions.
During the first days of school, students will review topics from the student handbook, which includes the school's discipline policy, dress code, and closed campus policy. This will be completed during advisory sessions. The student handbook is available online. Copies are available upon request.
Directory Information & Records
The following information may be released by the school district unless a student’s parent (or legal guardian) requests, in writing on the Family Educational Right to Privacy Act (FERPA) form, that such information not be released: The student’s name, address, telephone number, date and place of birth, major field of study, participation in officially recognized activities and sports, weight and height of members of athletic teams, dates of attendance, degrees and awards received, the most recent previous educational agency or institution attended by the student, photographs and other similar information.
Important information on the Restriction of Release of Directory Information (FERPA). Due to the effect it has on our SHS yearbook, we are asking families to REVIEW the form. It designates your privacy preferences regarding the Military, Higher Education, and all Public/District/Local publications. Please read the form carefully.
If you decide to complete a new form, please return it to Barbra Burton in the Counseling Office by Friday, September 11th. BE ADVISED: If you check the box labeled Local, your student will NOT be included in the annual yearbook.
Stanwood-Camano School District has a policy to safeguard student records from unauthorized use and disposition. Copies are available upon request. For more information regarding student records or transcripts, please call Stanwood High School Counseling Center at 629-1300.
End of the School Day
When the bell rings at the end of the school day, all students who walk are expected to leave campus immediately. Athletes or club members are to report directly to practice or meetings. Students who need to see their teachers for support must go directly to their classrooms. Loitering in hallways, bathrooms, or the commons is not allowed and may result in disciplinary action.
Bus riders must head to their designated bus stop, wait in the South Bus area, or wait in the commons if it is inclement weather until their bus arrives.
Spartan Start
We hope that you take advantage of completing these items (listed below) before school begins will help ensure students are ready for a successful first day.
Spartan Start takes place on Tuesday, Aug. 18, and Wednesday, Aug. 19. When arriving, please do not park in the bus parking area, as we have summer school. Ensure you enter through the commons; sales will start upon entry.
Tuesday, August 18
- Seniors: 8-10:30 a.m.
- All seniors are required to have an identifiable yearbook/ID photo taken during this session.
- Seniors may return during the All Grades session from 3:30–6 p.m. Aug. 19 to take their fun senior photo.
- Juniors: 11:30-2 p.m.
Wednesday, August 19
- Sophomores: 9-11:30 a.m.
- Freshmen: 12:30-3 p.m.
- All Grades Welcome: 3:30 p.m.
- Open to all students who were unable to attend their scheduled time.
- Seniors may also attend this session for their fun senior photo
What You'll Take Care of at Spartan Start
Pay School Fees:
- ASB Card – $45
- Yearbook – $45 through Sept 30th
- Parking Permit – $20
- Pay to Participate (Athletics) – $100
School Photos:
O'Connor Photography will photograph students for their yearbook and ASB/ID card.

Parking Permits:
Students purchasing a parking permit should bring:
- ASB card for current 26-27 school year (students must take school photos prior to purchasing their parking permit)
- Completed parking permit paperwork
- Payment
- Copy of driver's license
- Proof of insurance
Chromebook Check-Out:
Students will receive their Chromebook and charging cord for the school year. Ensure that all is in good working order before accepting.
Athletics:
- Submit athletic paperwork
- Pay the Pay to Participate fee
- Complete a sports physical (if needed) on Aug. 19
Health Room:
Students who require medications or have medical needs should bring all required medical paperwork and medications to the school nurse.
Can't make Spartan Start?
- Photo Make-Up Days will be on Sept. 9; ID/ASB cards will be available to pick up at the time of pictures. Please use this link to order.
- Permits will be available for pickup or purchase (cash or check only) in the Main Office starting Thursday the 20th, 8 am to 2 pm till September 1st. After that, payments can be made:
- 7:10-7:40 am
- During lunches
- After school 2:10-2:45 pm
- Chromebooks will be available to check out on the first day of school. ELA classes will take care of this.
- Purchases are available online for ASB, Yearbook, parking permits, and pay-to-play.
SHS August Office Hours
We have reopened with office hours of 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. until Wednesday, Sept. 1.
Please note that the office will be closed for training at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20. We will reopen from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21.
Additionally, we will be closed from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Aug. 28 due to staff training.
First Day of School Information
Freshmen
- Wednesday, September 2, 2026 | 7:40 AM – 2:10 PM
We are excited to welcome our newest Spartans for our fourth annual Freshmen & New Student First Day! This special day is designed exclusively for 9th-grade students and those new to Stanwood High School, providing them with the opportunity to become familiar with our campus, staff, and school community before all returning students arrive.
Throughout the morning, students will participate in an engaging orientation led by our outstanding Link Crew leaders. Through a variety of large- and small-group activities, Link Crew mentors will help students build connections, learn about high school expectations, answer questions, and ease the transition into life at SHS.
Following lunch, students will attend a modified class schedule, allowing them to locate their classrooms, meet their teachers, and become comfortable with their daily schedule before the school is full of students.
This is a regular school day, beginning at 7:40 a.m. and ending at 2:10 p.m. Bus transportation will operate on its normal schedule.
We look forward to welcoming our newest Spartans and helping them start the school year with confidence.

First Day for Adult Transition Program
The first day for students in the Adult Transition Program for both groups is September 8. Please review the website below for more information.
Student Schedules
Student Schedules will be available on Skyward at the end of the day on September 1, 2026.
Schedule changes will be considered only during the first five (5) school days of each semester and only for one or more of the following reasons:
- The student's schedule is incomplete (missing a class).
- The student has previously completed and received credit for the course.
- The student does not meet the prerequisite for the course.
- The student needs the course to meet graduation requirements.
- The student has been placed at an inappropriate skill level (examples include incorrect math placement, successful completion of the course through summer school, or a teacher recommendation for a different course level).
- A Running Start or Sno-Isle TECH Skills Center schedule conflict exists with the student's high school schedule.
- A scheduling or clerical error has occurred.
Schedule changes will not be made for reasons such as:
- Requesting a different teacher.
- Requesting a different class period or lunch.
- Wanting classes with friends.
- Changing electives due to a change in interest after schedules have been finalized.
