Meet the new Stanwood High School boys basketball coach: Garrett Glick.

Coach Glick comes to the program after helping Kamiak High girls basketball make the state tournament for the first time in more than 20 years. He served as the JV girls coach and varsity assistant in charge of the offense.

"To be part of such a storied program and get the opportunity to look to even greater heights, this is a dream position,” he said.

Glick, a Lake Stevens High graduate, replaces Josh Thayer who led the program for the past three seasons.

Previously, he worked as a Video Coordinator for the University of Idaho men's basketball program as well as Operations and Video Graduate Assistant for the University of San Francisco men's basketball program. Glick also coached JV girls basketball for two years at Moscow High School in Idaho before taking the role at Kamiak.

"Fans can expect a fast paced, perimeter oriented offensive attack encouraging our team to play relaxed yet meticulously,” he said. “On defense, we will be stifling on the perimeter and physical on the inside, outworking our opponents on the glass and loose balls in particular."

The boys basketball season starts in November.

“I could not be more excited to grow the legacy of this program and join the Spartan family,” Glick said. “Let's get to work."
